To the editor:

Bill Catalucci’s letter to your paper on Saturday was outstanding for the fact that it accused President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris of being “lying liars.”

First, all politicians lie. This is because if they always tell the truth, they would not win elections. If you carefully parse things that politicians say, they are either lying or saying nothing of consequence (like when Biden repeats "This is the United States of America.")

Trump is not a politician and he doesn't usually lie about his political positions, which is refreshingly honest. He tells us what he will do and what he ends up doing has a strong correlation to what voters for him expect.

Compare this to President Biden, who ran as a moderate but governed as a Far Left socialist. He spent us into oblivion when Covid was long gone, he illegally tried to forgive loans from his supporters to buy their votes, and he claimed he wanted to bring the country together when every other word out of his mouth is about the evil MAGA voter. Biden also lied about his son's laptop which influenced the outcome of the 2020 election, and his campaign aide (Tony Blinken) circulated the letter from the former intelligence officials claiming the laptop was Russian disinformation. Do those lies count for anything?

Trump is conceited and a braggadocio. These are not admirable qualities but it is his personality and he's been this way forever. So people who listen to Trump speak take with a grain of salt his exaggerations. Often, he is making a good point and speaking truth even when he exaggerates. For example, he says that criminals, the mentally insane, gangs, terrorists, and drug dealers are pouring across the border. Other times, he says that most of the people are probably fine but there are a lot of bad people. And these two statements are both true, but when you listen to just the first, you might conclude that he thinks the majority of the illegal immigrants are that way. I don't think he is saying that or means that, but if 10% or 20% or even 5% are, that is an unacceptable number and is enough evidence that the borders should be closed.

So in short, while Trump probably objectively tells more lies than Biden or Harris, he speaks much more often to the press, he exaggerates, and his lies are about things that don't matter (like how many people attended his rally) while Biden tells us he will do one thing in office then does another. That is far worse.

As far as the election goes, proving actual vote fraud is difficult when monitors are excluded from the counting room and election officials put up barriers so you can't see what is happening, or when someone dumps ballots into a container and the ballots are not individually identifiable. So rather than debate about whether fraud could be happening, let's secure our elections by requiring that only citizens vote and that there is a verifiable way to make sure that the ballot box cannot be stuffed. Preventing the possibility of fraud has always been a bipartisan issue until the Democrats became in favor of open borders and now we have 10 or 15 million illegal immigrants who could try to vote or whose identity could be used by operators to vote on their behalf.

Democrat operatives in large cities have a strong incentive to fix the voting results, partly because their jobs depend on it, and partly because the Left keeps saying that the Right are neo-Nazis, Hitler supporters, white supremacists, etc. With the type of rhetoric in the air, local officials might feel complete justification in falsifying results "for the greater good."

If you think this type of despicable behavior is unthinkable, just look at the number of people on social media who suggested that the next time, Trump's would-be-assassin shouldn't miss.
