To the editor:

The attacks of 9/11 and the very comparison of this local problem would be downright disrespectful if it were not abhorrent. But, as I examine the potential for tragedy, it is apparent to me that there remains a hint of similar exposure. Had the powers in 2001 been proactive, forewarned and thusly prepared, the catastrophe could have been avoided, in my opinion.
