To the editor:

When a home advertises as a short-term rental, is the septic system equipped to handle the guests? A septic system approved for a three-bedroom home contemplates a family with temporary visitors. The reality is 12-20 people splitting the cost of daily rental.

What about a "Carry in, Carry out" septic policy?

Doubtful there are 10-12 people in most STRs. Also, the emptying of the septic is the problem of the homeowner. If it overflows, rentals won't happen with bad reviews. STR owners are very responsible.

Just another STR opponent with an unsubstantiated and baseless claim ungrounded in reality. No facts. No link to a credible source. Just more made up nonsense. We grow weary of these factless claims and opinions. Additionally, if needed, the same standards should apply to ALL residential properties, not simply STRs. The truth is, many STRs consume less water and less strain on septic systems than full time residences because so many are unused for periods of time throughout the year.
