BARTLETT — Steve Hempel, a nationally board-certified teacher, wants to help make the Josiah Bartlett Elementary School great again, but the Bartlett resident feels he’s being rebuked every time he offers to pitch in.

At the Bartlett School Board’s Jan. 6 meeting, Hempel volunteered his services for free. He asked to see the master schedule for staff in order to offer some suggestions.
