To the editor:

I have long said the Statewide Education Property Tax (SWEPT) is a ridiculous method to address inequity in education funding or to meet the state’s constitutional obligation.

No tax on tips!

No tax on overtime !

No state income tax !

No state sales tax !

No intetest and dividends tax !

No vouchers for all !

How about parents pay for each of their children to attend the school of their choice.

The rest of us can then just enjoy the lower taxes.

The schools must operate within the budget that is is provided.

The budget should be made up solely of what the parents contribute for their children to attend.

Should some of the parents who are well off decide to contribute more, then, may god bless them, and we thank them. That gift will benefit all who attend.

But to burden every person, especially senior citizens on extremely limited budgets, with school taxes is absurd. Especially when tge school budget monies are so poorly managed, and the payroll and fringe benefits of school employees, especially teachers is so bloated.

There has to be drastic changes in the way schools are run, otherwise we will all be taxed to death.
