To the editor:

As a former practicing emergency physician, I am grateful to the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services for continuing to recommend that all healthy term infants receive the three-dose hepatitis B vaccine. This is consistent with current recommendations by the American Academy of Pediatrics and the American Academy of Family Physicians. Unfortunately, due to the current leadership of the Department of Health and Human Services in Washington, the CDC Advisory Committee on Immunization no longer recommends that this vaccine be routinely given.
