To the editor:

Mark Hounsell’s recent columns seem to boil down to the argument that the pure application of law without reference to morality is not the Lockean concept of "rule of law." Law informed by "legal positivism" rather than "natural law," he suggests, is nothing more than a modern-day feudalistic system lorded over by lawyers.

How about if the lawyers did some good ?

Like remove the hideous hotels recently built and destroying our valley.

Like stopping the urban sprawl spreading thru the valley like cancer.

Like abolishing the STRs that have over inflated our housing stock and keeps local families from staying in the valley where they were born.

Like letting criminals rot in prison instead of defending them.

That might be a good start to help change peoples opinions.....?

Jim, one of the poster children for supporting the law only being applied when it favors him, thinks that's the biggest problem we face? Well, start with changing yourself then Jim.

Wait, you mean the guy recently coronated as the "Most Hated Person in the MWV" thinks he's disliked simply because he's a lawyer? The one that "shows up" to court wearing a US flag tie looking like a used car salesman? Heavy is the crown, I guess. Must be made entirely of lead.
