To the editor:

Years ago I was part of a peaceful group-protest for civil rights in DC. We had been stridently engaging in a standard chant for equality for some time when a bystander near me suddenly yelled that my fellow protesters and I were “embarrassing.” We certainly were disheveled somewhat that day by the furor of our demanding liberty for all. Too disheveled and too furious, apparently, for this complete stranger.
