To the editor:

I’ll never forget the ominous sound of the cracking tree branches reverberating through my backyard in Wilton when I left for work as a Public Service of New Hampshire field supervisor on Dec. 11, 2008. Although I knew then that we could be facing an unprecedented event, little did I know that I wouldn’t return home for any length of time until Christmas Day, two weeks later.
