There’s a fundamental reason why anger over the killing of a wild duck by members of the Kennett High School football team continues, and it is one that the school district and the Conway School Board, especially chairman Joe Lentini, aren’t getting. 

In a letter in Wednesday’s paper, Lentini makes a valid point about the poison spewed by social media trolls and extremists, but he skirts the heart of the matter. Worse, he gives in to his emotions and makes the unfortunate and unsophisticated error of insulting the critics. In doing so, he may have thrown gasoline on an already hot fire.
