On Friday, March 13, we held a wonderful service for a pillar of our community, Charles David Weathers. As I looked around at the overwhelming number of people who came to pay their respects, it reminded me of just how big a man Dave Weathers really was — not only in stature but in the impact he had on all of us. To think about how many lives he touched, how many of us he worked alongside or how many were simply lucky enough to know him, it is truly an astonishing number.

Dave gave 53 years of loyal service to the Conway Fire Department. He served 22 years as a selectman for the town of Conway and to anyone involved in sports he was surely there on the sidelines ready to provide first aid if needed. These are just a few of the many roles he held throughout the years. This kind of commitment is a testament to just how deeply dedicated he was to this community and to those of us who are fortunate enough to live here.
