Thank you to the letter writer who caught my typo regarding chip-making machines from Netherlands based ASML (not ATSL). His added information regarding the firm’s U.S. manufacturing matches my point — tariffs can make a mess out of the world’s globalized supply chain. In any case, I made a factual error in my column. I regret the mistake and am happy to see it corrected.

That was easy. If you want to be taken seriously in any context, you need to be able to acknowledge errors and promptly correct them. Our politicians can’t do that There is no hope for them. But what about our journalists?
