WAKEFIELD — Due to an apparent increase in drinking and driving incidents, the Wakefield Police Department in conjunction with the Wolfeboro PD, Ossipee PD and State Police Troop E applied for and was granted a Superior Court petition to conduct a sobriety checkpoint in the Wakefield area on the weekend of July 14.

According to a release issued by Wakefield Lt. Christopher Waldron, the sobriety checkpoint “is an effective method of detecting and apprehending the impaired operator.”
