CONWAY — The 24th annual Hannes Schneider Cup Weekend, held last Saturday at Cranmore Mountain Resort as a major fundraiser for the New England Ski Museum, had a lower crowd turnout this year due to coronavirus concern. But the two-run, recreational giant slalom was down only seven racers from last year, according to Jeff Leich, executive director of the ski museum, which has branches in both Franconia and North Conway.

Owing to concerns about COVID-19, the torchlight parade and indoor kickoff dinner were canceled, but race directors made the decision to proceed with Saturday’s outdoor opening ceremonies and race.
