CONWAY — The protesters many feared would turn out at last Friday’s Drag Queen Story Hour at Conway Public Library never materialized. Instead, the low-key event attracted about a half-dozen families and meanwhile a group of about 20 event supporters out front holding signs and waving to passing cars.

“The next time we do the drag story hour, I hope that many more families will participate knowing that it’s not controversial,” said Chris Bellis, president of the White Mountains Pride board. “It’s just promoting the acceptance of difference.”
