CONWAY — John Clymer, who illustrated the Dec. 21, 1957, Saturday Evening Post cover of the Gibson-Woodbury home — began his life on the West Coast but spent much of his career back East, working in illustration and advertising.

Born in Ellensburg, Wash., in 1917, Clymer grew up fascinated by natural art at the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. Over the course of his life, he nurtured his love of nature and became most famous for his depictions of the American West.
