CONWAY — In Conway’s “Moving Forward” master plan, adopted in 2024, housing is among the issues prioritized. Notes the plan, “Living in Conway should be affordable and attainable for residents of different income levels; a reliable supply of quality housing units helps supports and retain Conway’s quality.”

It outlines goals and strategies. Conway voters in April by a margin of 1,232-344 also approved the creation of a Capital Improvement Plan Committee to coordinate and prioritize planning for future infrastructure needs — such as expansion of sewer to areas of town that would be essential for development of future housing. There is no nention of keeping corporate purchasers and investors out of the market, which always inflates prices and causes shortages. The new "affordable homes" should come with covenants that purchasers must be within a specific income range, and must personaly occupy the property for a minimum of 5+ years before being able to sell, and the properties should never be allowed to be used as rentals. Building numerous rental units may look attractive, but does not build wealth for anyone other than the owner. Home ownership is truly the path to wealth and independance. This should also be considered when planing developements for rent as opposed to sale.
