HART’S LOCATION — A forest fire totaling about 20 acres burned across steep mountainside terrain near Arethusa Falls in Crawford Notch State Park on Saturday afternoon, forcing firefighters to battle flames on foot near one of the Mount Washington Valley’s most popular hiking areas, according to Bartlett Acting Chief Jim Langdon.
Crews were dispatched just before noon to fires that ultimately spread across two separate areas on either side of the Arethusa Falls trail system.
