JACKSON — Annual school meeting will take place tonight in the Whitney Center at 7 p.m. Voters will decide five articles on this year’s warrant, all supported by the Jackson School Board. Chief among those is No. 1, the proposed operating budget of $3,970,978 (with $21,000 to be offset from various grants.) The budget is up almost 30 percent over last year ($3,046,203, with $20,400 offset by grants).
The chief culprit for the steep rise is a $613,550 increase in special education costs (from $40,859).
