JACKSON — Property owners are bracing for property tax sticker shock when the semi-annual bills go out this month. Juiced by a 70 percent increase in school spending, the overall tax rate is up 23 percent.

That means the tax bill on a $500,000 house is going up from $4,345 to $5,350.
