BARTLETT — I am reflecting on my early years in Providence, R.I., when I was a kid living on Windmill Street, a residential street with a few double-decker homes and ample space for gardens. I went to live there at age 2. My parents’ landlord kicked us out of our third-floor apartment because I made too much noise.
