BARTLETT — It’s a long roll of the bocce ball from Egypt, where the game originated 5,000 years ago, or even Greece or Italy, where it evolved before coming to America, to the Club Up North at Christmas Mountain in Glen. but the devotion to the game of bocce is probably no less intense.

Led by retired local educators Tony and Jenny Simone (pronounced Si-mo-nee), a group of about 40 bocce enthusiasts gathers several times a week to socialize, get a little exercise, enjoy refreshments in the beauty of the mountain setting and, oh yes, play bocce.
