EATON — Dr. Eugene Long’s family for the past 75 years has enjoyed a friendship with a French family as a result of his father’s having been part of the D-Day invasion of Normandy on June 6, 1944.
His father, also named Gene Long, was part of the Allied invasion of the beaches of Normandy held by Nazi Germany.
