THOMPSON AND MESERVE’S PURCHASE — Easton resident Kris Pastoriza’s efforts to change Mount Washington’s name because the nation’s first president held slaves was again on the agenda when the Mount Washington Commission met atop the 6,288-foot peak last Friday with Sen. Carrie Gendreau criticizing Pastor formaking it an issue. Gendreau (R-Littleton), who serves on the commission, said, “We have had issues with (Pastoriza) in Littleton,” adding Pastoriza is an “activist” who has spoken out about ATV trail issues.

Easton (not to be confused with Eaton) is a town in Grafton County south of Franconia.

Before one goes out of control about the issue of slavery, one needs to research the history of Native Americans before the appearance of Europeans. They, in fact, practiced slavery involving conquered tribes and often bought and sold slaves forcing them to live on the outskirts of their villages. So, let us not deem Native Americans anymore sanctimonious than the average white people who appeared long after this practice. George Washington is the father of our present country and hence should continue to be respected.

The Pastor lady needs to get a job. Too much time on her hands.

Pastoriza is further proof that New Hampshire has to increase funding and facilities to aid those with mental illness.

YOU CANNOT ERASE HISTORY !!!

learn from it, but do not try to erase it.

George Washington was one of this country's greatest patriots.

DO NOT CHANGE THE THE NAME! LEAVE IT ALONE !

The whole woke movement and cancel culture needs to cancel itself.

Keep New Hampshire as is.

Yes, absolutely. Let's change the name because one voice loves to scream at the moon. Nothing makes America better than letting the crazies make the decisions.

This Pastor woman and those that think like her have never shed an ounce of sweat or blood for the freedom that she enjoys which was paid for by the blood of many patriots like Washington. Erasing history is as dumb as it gets. Doesn't Pasor realize that replacing Washington with a native American name is racist too? Someone will be offended. Wokism is a cancer.
