FRYEBURG, Maine — The Fryeburg Historical Society will again be holding the special Civil War Encampment with the Company A, 3rd Maine Regiment Volunteer Infantry next weekend.
The popular re-enactment program last visited Fryeburg in 2014.
The events to be held Aug. 17-18 at the Col. Osgood House Museum at 83 Portland St. will give those attending a picture of what the the times were like during the Civil War.
The camp opens with a ceremony at 9:45 a.m. each day and ends with a formal retreat and case colors. Events will include re-enactments of camp life for the public, letter writing demonstrations, drills by the infantry including firing demonstration, mail call, camp inspection and a program on ladies' dress.
The re-enactors, playing soldiers and ladies of the era, will share Civil War stories and history.
The encampment closes on Saturday at 5 p.m. and on Sunday at 2 p.m.
This promises to be a great family event, with interactive fun and education for all ages and genders.
The fee for attending is $10 for adults; children under 12 are free (with supervision).
