OSSIPEE — Although experts who spent last Wednesday pondering whether housing would make sense on 400 acres of county land said that 167 units could be built there, they also said high-rise apartments wouldn’t make sense and workforce units would average $322,000, a price many attendees found unaffordable.

The charrette reveal last Wednesday evening at the Carroll County Annex building in Ossipee was attended by about 50 people.

Simple supply and demand dictates pricing. Since in recent years the federal government has opened the boarders, the demand has increased and consequently the prices.

It does not help in ossipee that taxes have risen so much. People can’t afford the taxes never mind the house.
