CONWAY — New Year's Eve fireworks at Schouler Park will no longer be subsidized by the North Conway Village Business Association because it duplicates Cranmore's show and doesn't make business sense, the Conway Parks and Rec director told selectmen Tuesday.

But on Wednesday, Mt. Washington Valley Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Chris Proulx and a spokesman for the Conway Scenic Railroad said the fireworks may be saved if more events could be planned to coincide with the Schouler Park New Year's Eve fireworks show.
