CONWAY — IT’S BEGINNING TO LOOK A LOT like winter. The valley looks like Bedford Falls in Frank Capra’s “It’s a Wonderful Life” with all the snow sticking to the tree branches.

Seeing local schoolchildren playing and laughing at the North Conway Community Center’s playground in the snow on Wednesday night, as the center inside hosted their ski history project displays as part of this year’s third annual “In Martha’s Memory,” gave one pause to think of all that has come before us in the years since Carroll Reed, Harvey Dow Gibson and Hannes Schneider made their mark on our snow-loving village.
