One of my favorite all-time local events is Advice To The Players’ Shakespearean Idol. The event this year is scheduled for Saturday, May 12, starting at 7 p.m. Local singers perform modern songs matching a theme from one of Shakespeare’s plays. For example I recall “Witchy Woman,” symbolizing the cauldron scene from “Macbeth.” This presentation never fails to be entertaining and comedic. Admission is a $10 suggested donation.
On Saturday, visit the Tamworth Farmers’ Market, where artists will draw and paint. There will be a “quick sketch” event and artists have only two hours to complete the scene. The evening and week concludes with the entertainment under the new tent at The Preserve, featuring Judi Oen, Leland Sklar and Petro De gundo. Tickets are available and the event is bring your own beverage.
