On Sept. 30, 2019, Rodney Arthur Lyman took his last breath surrounded by his loving family.

Rodney Arthur Lyman

Throughout his long battle with illness, he kept his sense of humor and the love of his family.

Rodney “Deke” was a lifelong resident of Silver Lake and spent 20 years as the custodian at Madison Elementary School. He played softball for years and enjoyed the outdoors, especially the view of Mount Chocorua from his porch. He was especially known for his funny sayings, jokes or sarcastic wit and loved to share a story or smile with family and friends. He will be sorely missed.

Rodney was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Susan; his brothers, Larry and Pat; and his sisters, Joyce and Sandra.

He is survived by his wife, Debra; and his three children, Matthew Lyman and his wife, Kim; Melanie Bova and her husband, Peter; and Shannon Kurze and her husband, Richard.

He was also survived by his greatest pride his grandchildren, Alex Lyman and his fiancée, Amanda; Olivia Spaulding and her husband, Chris; Logan Lyman; Parker and Payton Kurze; and his great-grandchildren, Jackson and Georgia.

He also loved his step-grandchildren, Katie and Sabrina Bova; and Taylor and Sara Bishop; and his chubby dog, Albert. Also mourning his death are his brothers, Wayne Lyman “Chucky” and David Lyman and his wife, Jane; and his sisters, Laurel Sexton and her husband, Ken; Beth Lyman; and Sheri Lyman; as well as countless nieces and nephews.

His celebration of life will occur on Sunday, Oct. 13, at the Madison Church at 3 p.m. A private burial will occur at a different time.
