Two vacancies on planning boardApplicants need to be at Thursday night's meetingLoren BillingsCONWAY Anyone interested in filling out the terms of the two vacant seats on the planning board should submit a letter of interest by Oct. 2, and attend this week's meeting and the next workshop, tentatively scheduled for next month.The board adopted an appointment policy in June requiring applicants to attend, at minimum, one regular meeting and one workshop. If the board appoints at its Oct. 25 meeting, Thursday's meeting is the last opportunity.The two seats up for appointment are those formerly held by Martin Frank (see related story) and Arthur Bergmann, both of whom resigned. Bergmann's term expires in April 2002 and Frank's term expires in 2004.Letters of interest should be sent to Sheila Duane, Planning Board Chair, Town of Conway, P.O. Box 70, Center Conway, NH 03813. The letter should include background, experience and pertinent information as well as the applicant's reason for wanting to serve on the board. The next workshop is tentatively scheduled for Oct. 18, according to Tom Irving, town planner, who added the board could appoint on Oct. 25, but the board also has the authority to waive the rules.Applicants will be informally interviewed by board members following their attendance at the regularly scheduled and workshop meetings. Following the discussion, the board will vote to accept or reject each applicant.
