With the release of “Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation,” this Adam Sandler-led animation franchise has officially become the most unexpectedly charming and funny film series in recent years.
That may sound like overly high praise, so let me clarify. These are not great films. They are all incredibly predictable. From frame one, you know the final outcome. But each film works in spite of their familiarity because they are presented with energy, surprising tenderness and humor that is often completely out of left field.
