Bryan Singer, the director who first brought "X-Men" to the silver screen in 2000, returns to the franchise he helped shape with "X-Men: The Days of Future Past," a rousing, emotionally complex and layered adventure that is sure to please even the most casual fans.

"Days of Future Past," an adaptation of a 1981 "The Uncanny X-Men" comic book story arc of the same name, is the seventh "X-Men" film if you include the two stand-alone "Wolverine" movies. Instead of becoming stale, the series has been rejuvenated after a brief rough patch with "X-Men: Last Stand" and "X-Men Origins: Wolverine."
