9-21-18 A Simple Favor

The mystery “A Simple Favor” is being marketed as coming from the “darker side” of Paul Feig, the director behind such raunchy female-lead comedies as “Bridesmaids,” “The Heat,” “Spy” and 2016’s “Ghostbusters.”

Feig may seem an odd choice for a thriller, but no matter how outrageous his previous films became, they were grounded by strong female relationships. His films explore both the warmth and toxicity that can exist in female friendships, and the ways women can tear each other down just as easily as they can pull each other up.
