FRYEBURG — The mark of a good team is how well it responds to adversity. The Fryeburg Academy softball suffered its first loss of the season, falling 8-3 on the road to Poland on April 27, but bounced back nicely two days later. The Raiders thoroughly dominated visiting Wells at the Bradley St. field, winning 12-1 in six innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.
FA closed out the week by hosting Oxford Hills, the lone undefeated team in Class A North. The Vikings (5-0) broke open a 1-1 tie in the fifth inning with a run and added four in the top of the sixth and two more in the seventh to leave town with an 8-1 victory in a contest that was much closer than the final score might indicate.
