CENTER OSSIPEE — Emergency crews responded to a multi-vehicle crash with injuries Saturday morning at the intersection of Route 16 and Pine River Road. Five children were transported to Huggins Hospital in Wolfeboro, said Center Ossipee Fire Chief Dana Cullen on Facebook Saturday.

Police said two vehicles were involved, with no life-threatening injuries. No charges were filed.

The Center Ossipee Fire Department was dispatched at 10:52 a.m. by Carroll County dispatch following reports of a collision involving a rollover.

Cullen said a total of eight patients were evaluated at the scene and five children were taken to Huggins Hospital. None of the passengers were entrapped.

On Monday, Ossipee Police Lt. Rob Ripley said two vehicles were involved in the crash. He said a Chevy Tahoe was heading southbound on Route 16 and a Subaru Forester, which was on Route 16 heading north trying to turn onto 16 B, was trying to make a left turn and clipped the back end of the Tahoe, which sent it into a spin and ultimately caused it to roll over.

Cullen said there were children in both vehicles but didn't have a breakdown of how many in each.

Responding units from Center Ossipee Fire included Squad 1 and Engine 3, each with three personnel, Ambulance 1 with two personnel, and Utility 1 with two personnel. Mutual aid ambulances from Wakefield and Tuftonboro assisted with patient transport, along with one available Action Ambulance unit.

The Carroll County Sheriff's Office assisted Ossipee Police at the scene. The vehicles were removed by Whiting's Automotive, Towing, & Recovery.

Cullen noted the crash was the department’s second rollover response in two days and the third such incident in Ossipee over that period.

"Chief Dana Cullen Jr would like to remind everyone to please reduce speed in busy areas, keep your eyes up, stay alert, and drive with care."

In addition to Saturday's crash last Friday, at 1:26 pm, there was a rollover crash Route 25 East and Route 16B. It was reported to be a rollover with three patients, two still trapped in the vehicle, said Cullen on Facebook.

"Upon arrival, Chief Cullen confirmed two vehicles involved with one rolled on its roof and one patient still entrapped," said the post. "The patient was extricated utilizing hydraulic rescue tools with struts deployed for stabilization of the vehicle. Two patients were treated at the scene and transported by Action Ambulance."

Meanwhile, on Monday afternoon, 21-year-old David Bellis-Bennett of Conway, drove his car off Route 16 in Tamworth and down a steep embankment Monday afternoon, but uninjured in the crash.

The crash occurred around 1 p.m. just north of the intersection of Route 16 and Maple Road.

Tamworth Police Sgt. Brittany Perley said the driver was heading north in a Kia after leaving a residence near the State Police barracks in Tamworth.

“He stated he was driving northbound when he lost control of the vehicle and drifted into the soft shoulder of the roadway and tried to correct but ran the vehicle down the guardrail and over the embankment,” said Perley, adding the man was “shaken up” by the ordeal.

No charges will be filed. A backhoe pulled the Kia up the embankment and a flatbed truck removed it. The scene was cleared about 1:55 p.m.
