FRYEBURG, Maine — Maine’s Blue Ribbon Classic — the 176th Fryeburg Fair — got underway with sunny fall skies on Sunday, with good weather expected for today, Senior Citizens Day, and the rest of the week as the fair continues through Sunday, Oct. 11.
Paid attendance on opening day was 24,766, according to fair publicity assistant Emily Hubbard, compared to last year’s paid attendance of 20,309. The record for opening day — 29,955 — was set in 2001.
