CONWAY — Under ideal conditions, unlike recent years, 74 runners found toed the starting line at the Kennett Middle School for the annual Kennett Challenge Race last Wednesday. This fun two-mile race traditionally pits the silverbacks (the White Mountain Milers) against the young whippersnappers (Kennett High and Fryeburg Academy cross-country teams) for the first local high school race of the season.

The White Mountain Milers took top honors in the women’s race, while the Kennett boys garnered team laurels for the men.
