BARTLETT – Cross-country trail runners are invited to register now to take part in the first annual Thad Thorne 5k Memorial Trail Race to be held at Attitash Mountain Resort Saturday, June 16 at 10 a.m. A Fun Run Race will take place after the 5k Trail Race on a similar, shorter course. Part of the proceeds of this race will benefit the Bartlett Middle School Ski Team.
Long-time general manager of Attitash Ski Area, Thaddeus Thorne was integral to launching one of New England's original summer fun ski areas when he initiated the construction of the Alpine Slide and established summer operations beginning in the summer of 1976. Considered a Founding Father of Attitash, Thad took part in the original planning of Attitash Ski Area and served as the General Manager for over 20 years. Thad Thorne passed away in June of 2011.
