It is that time of year when we begin to search for the perfect Christmas gifts for our loved ones. No doubt, if you read this column then you probably are a fisherman or you know someone who is. Should you be looking for that perfect gift for your favorite angler, I offer a few simple suggestions.

First and foremost shop locally. I am no longer associated with the retail side of the fishing business so I have nothing to gain financially, however, I can assure you that your experience will be greatly enhanced by shopping in your own hometown and you will be helping out a neighbor at the same time. We are fortunate that our valley offers a wide variety of small independent shops of all types to choose from.
