Troutman pulled into the Old Timer’s driveway. He shut off the engine on the jeep and sat for a moment. For many years the two had spent Father’s Day fishing. Great fun and great stories always seemed to happen. Troutman was hopeful that this year would be no different.

The Old Timer walked out the door of the house with his fly vest and his Orvis Far & Fine fly rod set up. It was the rod he used since the day he retired from running the school district. For a poor kid from Laconia, the Orvis rod was the only thing he splurged on during his life.
