There was no rush to meet and get to the pond that was targeted to fish. This early in the trout fishing season is what we call the most comfortable time of day fishing. In early May that time is the middle of the day.

This fishing trip was in the works since mid-winter — the lead time necessary to schedule a day off from work in the middle of the week as this angler only has Tuesday as his day off. The fishing partner was amenable to taking one of his well-earned vacation days to go and fish a remote trout pond the two shared several years ago during a hexagenia hatch. The trout in the pond were wild and feisty and a 16-inch fish was the norm, not the exception.
