Anyone recently traveling the North-South Road has noticed the heavy equipment clearing the way for the North Conway Recreation Path. For old-timers who fought the construction of the Conway Bypass 20 years ago, it is particularly sweet as the rec path is exactly following the route of a section of the now-defunct bypass. When completed in November, the 2.9-mile rec path will run from a parking lot at Cranmore Resort to Hemlock Lane, just north of WalmMart. Expansion calls for the rec path to extend east toward the existing Fryeburg multi-use path and west to Bartlett.

This week’s TeleTalk question is: Would you rather see the expansion of the rec path first go toward Fryeburg or Bartlett?

I like the route that they are currently working on. It makes a great loop for people that want to go down on the West Side road side and come back on the new path. I used to do this but would risk life and limb riding back on North-South road which has become ever more busy through the years with quick moving cars
