The Conway School Board is again looking at replacing the February and April vacations with a March break. Proponents say March would provide instructional continuity without a break so soon after the Christmas holiday; that spring sports would not be disrupted in April; and that the school year could end a week earlier and avoid a week of hot weather in June. (Schools are not air-conditioned.) The February week is traditionally scheduled a week earlier than the rest of New Hampshire to be timed with the Massachusetts vacation to give local businesses extra help during a busy week. However, it’s not clear how many kids actually work that week.
This week’s TeleTalk question is: Should the school district replace the February and April vacations with one week in March?
