Tele-Talk question: Was it unfair to the rest of the students in Josiah Bartlett Elementary School that only second- and third-grade students received free bikes? Call
Former Bartlett School Board member Scott Grant questioned why 28 bicycles were given only to second- and third-grade students, saying, “If I’m a parent and I have a child in first or fourth grade, I’m wild. It’s a great idea, but you disenfranchised the rest of the school.” Josiah Bartlett Elementary School Principal Phyllis Bellemare received the bicycles from a company that held a conference at the nearby Omni Mount Washington Hotel. At no cost to the school, she and her husband, Greg, loaded the bikes into a trailer and brought them to the school. Second- and third-grade students were chosen because the bikes fit children in those grades.
This week’s Tele-Talk question is: Was it unfair to the rest of the students in Josiah Bartlett Elementary School that only second- and third-grade students received free bikes?
