The 20-year contract between Conway and the sending towns — Jackson, Bartlett, Madison, Tamworth, Albany, Eaton, Freedom and Chatham — expires in 2027, requiring negotiations for a new contract to be completed in time for March school meetings. Under the current agreement, sending towns must send 90 percent of eligible students to Kennett High School. Jackson is the first town to finalize negotiations with Conway, and its new contract eliminates any minimum enrollment requirement at Kennett. In March, Jackson voters will decide whether to send its students Fryeburg Academy and or Kennett.

This week’s TeleTalk question: Should other sending towns follow Jackson’s lead and negotiate so their students can attend other schools besides Kennett High School?
