Once again, the New Hampshire Senate has snuffed out a bill to legalize possession of marijuana. Currently, possession of up to three-quarters of an ounce of cannabis is a citation offense. Possession of more than that is a criminal offense. The vote against House Bill 198 was 12-10. The bill would have allowed possession of up to two ounces. All Senate Democrats voted for it. Gov. Kelly Ayotte has repeatedly said she is against legalization.
