Cranmore Mountain Resort announced this week it’s closing its fitness center and indoor tennis facility as of Aug. 30. According to Cranmore President and General Manager Ben Wilcox, the cost of renovating or rebuilding the 45-year-old Artist Falls Lodge is not “financially viable.” Meanwhile, the center’s 800 or so members will be directed to “transition” to other fitness-oriented businesses. But while other gyms operate locally, there are no other indoor tennis courts, and the loss of Cranmore’s will put a dent in Kennett High School and Fryeburg Academy’s tennis programs.

This week’s Tele-Talk: Do you think there is interest locally in opening a new gym/indoor tennis facility?
