To the editor:I wish to thank Bill Lambert, NHDOT engineer, for giving us some insight about maintaining the center lines on Route 302. I did notice that they had been painted and I thank you. I realize that these yellow lines are very difficult to see after dark and especially if it is raining or is foggy. This is precisely the reason that the white lines on the sides also need to be done. Perhaps you can enlighten us as to why they changed the center lines to yellow. Yes, they are bright in the daytime, but at night the prominent color is the white. I have traveled in foggy weather so thick that unless someone was in front of you or you could see the white side lines, you had no idea if you were even on the road. I have noticed in traveling to Massachusetts on Route 95 that the yellow is being replaced back to white, which makes me feel a lot safer. In regards to the North South Road cross streets, perhaps if a painted white line with "stop" was placed at the end of the intersection after the stop sign, more stop sign jumpers might see it. I also was a victim of a car that didn't look in either direction and came onto North-South Road to cross, then decided to look and jammed on his brakes. Fortunately, I drive with eyes looking in all directions and, after leaving rubber, did miss him. Some of those stop signs are so far back from the North-South Road, they just drive by them. Good luck in trying to solve all of the problems, but that road is a godsend from the strip.
