To the editor:As I read recent articles in our local paper I have to ask myself what has become of the things that my parents had raised me to view as important?Kids our future caretakers, community leaders, business leaders and future parents.Respect respect yourself, respect others and respect the privacy of others.Gratefulness be grateful for what you have, for what you are given and for what you are able to give to others. The recent articles about the new high school and the principal of this school go against everything that my parents taught me growing up! It doesnt appear to matter that our kids will be receiving opportunities to make them a success in anything that they put their minds to. It doesnt appear that it is a good thing that, as my middle school son received his tour of the new school for next year, he was mapping out what subjects he was going to select. It doesnt appear to matter that my middle school student is excited about going to this school with all of its offerings! The possibility that the current local paper does not care about our kids or their education bothers me immensely. As for respect, the same articles clearly show a lack of respect for a principal, this man, as a person, or his family. These articles have been written as if it is a crime to want the best for the students or the community. They have invaded the personal and financial business of the family as if they had committed crimes against us all. Where is the respect for privacy? Why does good have to be turned into bad? There are so many good things listed in these articles that are due to someones attention to detail or financial generosity. All have come under attack! Why is this? Why cant the folks in charge of the paper and those writing articles about the school/principal be GRATEFUL for what has been given? Given to our current and future children, future leaders and future parents! To be GRATEFUL this is for all of us! My children have an outstanding new high school that, on one day, has the cover of the paper for a very important track meet, and then the next cover questions a person that has given his time and dedication to this same school! A position that he holds because he enjoys his work and cares about the kids as you are well aware, he does not do it for the money! Please give it a rest. Try writing about the kids in some of these special programs or interview someone excited about the school. Try researching something positive for a change! I would like my kids to maintain their current views of this extraordinary facility. Dont ruin it for them! In closing I would like to say that I have great respect for Jack Loynd and his family. I am grateful for his support of my kids future (all varieties of support)! I only hope that the people in charge of this paper will take a moment to identify what is important to them. I ask them would kids, respect or gratefulness be anywhere on their list?
